i think ive seen little cooling pads that are made to fit on the bottom of labtops and plug into some kind of electrical source. i guess they keep the laptop from getting hot when its on your lap. does anyone know what these things are called? im thinkin shove it under my viper 1200.1 thats gettin pretty warm and callin it a day.

laptop fans? i dunno my sister has one. Good idea.

EDIT: its called a cooler/cooling pad.

the reason those pads work for laptops is that the intake fan for the cooling of the laptop is on the bottom s it forces more air into the fans i dont think it will help and amp much, plus most run off USB which is 5v (if I remember right)

maybe try and find a 5v -> 12v converter of some sort? I think lifting up the amp so its not on my black trunk carpet and being hit with three fans could do some serious cooling.

another idea i had was to put fans in my empty read deck 6x9 holes. that way when i have my a/c on, the fans blow cold air into my trunk. kinda like a climate control for my trunk.

i was thinking one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-3-Fan-Aluminum-Notebook-Laptop-Cooler-Pad-cooling_W0QQitemZ200001175447QQihZ010QQcategoryZ31534QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Why not just go to wal mart and get 12v fans. Or a computer store. All the fans sold for a computer are 12 volt. If its powered by USB, its converted from 5v to 12v to power the fans. Trust me. I ripped one apart already. The fans are 12v.

I agree about getting fans for it but getting the pad would be a waste if you are just going to have to tear it apart and rewire it

A car will run at 14+ volts with the car on, make sure the fans can handle that.

i was gonna get one of those becuase it wouldnt look half as bad, im thinking about building a little system where i would lift up the amp and put fans under it, one of the labtop coolers would do a lot of the work for me.

See, what I did was I chopped out the bottom of my amp rack, and under each amp I mounted one of those, which had 4 fans. Then when remounting my amps down I placed 1/4" spacers so the air would move out. Wired with a relay on my remote wire to turn them on and off. They never had problems, for the 2 years I had them in my ride, they never had problems.

thats almost exactly what i wanna do. so you're saying the fans in one of the laptop coolers are 12v?
