Sssssooo, i got this ol' cooler sitting here, and i am going to put an old headunit and some speakers in it....

But i have NO IDEA how big of a battery to put in it, or what kind of battery. I need something that wont mind being drained and recharged, and something that will last a while.

Any reccomendations? I got an old delco sitting in my garage that i threw in over the summer while the kinetiks were out, but its a little big...

If you are just powering a headunit a little kinetik 600 or 800 or batcap 800 should be fine depending on the amout of playtime you want/need. If you plan on doing longer listening I would go to a higher capacity/larger battery.

it would be nice to get a couple hours out of it, say at least 2 hours off of a headunit and two speakers.

I would opt for something with 30+Ah. just to be safe, I have seen set ups with 600's used on 1000 watt amps each (4 amps 1 600 on each amp mids and high amp was a large audiobahn 4 channel) and the system played at a decent level (not turned up though)for an hour before going on a power supply. IIRC he used an HC2000 under the hood. I would just monitor the battery the first couple times you have it out. Headunit draw will play a roll. Some of the older alpines would and could draw more juice than a basic kenwood/pioneer/sony. Reason I would try a 30ish Ah battery is due to the fact that it sounds like you want to keep the system portable.
