Well I been out of the car audio scene for a couple years now. I just got back into it the last couple weeks. So today I stopped in at a local audio shop and as soon as I walked in I see a RE sub and I was shocked. Its nice to see they are getting the recognition. I know 2 years ago I had spoke to them about RE audio and they acted like it wasnt shit maybe like they would talk about pyramid or something. Just wanted to say congrats to RE.

yeah its nice and all but Im guessing you didnt talk about prices with the shop? Everything jacked up over like 200% on prices
Really??? No I didnt ask prices I would like to bring that up and then ask why the hell they charge so much when RE sales them so much cheaper. I actually asked about a box and this man told me 200 dollars for a single 15" and was sayin yea thats very cheap.

they charge more because they dont do direct sales anymore (havent for a while now, this is pretty old news around here). we got the cheap prices because we got it straight from RE. now that they have to go through a middle man that has to make a profit as well, the prices are "sky high" compared to what we used to be able to get them.

if you are looking at RE but cant afford the price now, Scott from RE has now made a company called "Fi Car Audio" which has been out for about a year and a half. basically RE equipment on the cheap (well cheaper than what RE is selling for now). they dont really have an equivelant (sp?) of the XXX, but Shawn Flemming says his dad and he like the "Q" (their SQ driver), better than the 05 XXX anyways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. the MT equivelant is the stock BTL and the SX is pretty close to the SSD.

so whats so good about Fi? customizable subwoofers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thats because he works for them, or its subjective anyway

05xxx can take a bit more power, and they are really tight when they hit, not sloppy at all

but my opinion is subjective as well.

RE prices did go up, but you can get them for about 15 % higher than you could before if you talk to the right people.

im not that person, so please dont come to me, i am meaning most dealers will let them go for about that much...

eh, shawn flemming seems to be really open and honest from my conversations with him.

he replaced 3 15" xxx's in his dads explorer with 3 15" Q's and said his dad did not like the way the Q's sounded. and he said he agreed with his dad. after about 3 weeks of pounding he said the Q's were really starting to break in and his dad (as well as himself) actually liked them over his previous xxx's and they hit the upper end a lot better. IDK, to me that says something.

i saw something similar with another member on this forum. he down talked the Q for a while and still hyped his XXX...then a couple weeks later, he said he was thinking of getting another Q...

So basically it seems to me like the we on here just use the underground companies until they become recognized and the prices sky rocket. Then another one comes along and its never ending.

pretty much. RE wanted to go main stream, and there is nothing wrong with that. but when you got the designer for RE leave them and start his own company again that says he has no plans of going main stream ever, you get very very very similar products but for a smaller price tag.

nothing wrong with RE going main stream, but it does leave a bad taste in your mouth when a $289 15" RE SX now costs about $500, and hasnt undergone a single performance upgrade (that i know of anyways)
