Well, i have a 1998 chevy malibu, and i really need some front comps. But, the thing is my doors have 5x7 speakers in them and by looks its really confusing as to how i would fit 6.5 comps in there along with the tweeter. Can anyone help me with good speaker reccomendations as well as how i would do this? Budget is about $200 for comps and amp.

So what do i do about the grill that is already there? Will teh new grill just cover that hole completely? and where do i put the tweeter? Also, i work at Stainless Steel warehouse and they have this insulation shit, can i use that as deadner?

I would stay away from that deadener. Put the tweeter where ever it sounds best, some like it close to the woofer some like it higher for a more forward sound stage. Either you can flush mount it or cut a whole.

I depending on the speakers you use, you can just put it in the factory location, sometimes I like to use the aftermarket grill under the door grill to ensure the cone doesnt hit the door panel.

If i can perform what i need to i would love for you to make a bracket for me, im no good at woodcraft stuff, as to i dont even know what im going to use to cut out a hole in my friggin door lol. makes me nervous just thinkin about it haha.

How do i find the dims, take the door panel off and just measure? i dont even know how to take it off haha.
That may be a good place to start, take some pics while you have it off. T ake your time dont break anything. I know someone here knows a site where you can get the mounting depth information. That will be a big factor in choosing your mids, unless you dont mind not rolling you windows down all the way.

Ok so i took off my door panel. The measurement i got was 1.5" without the plastic bracket that was there already in place. This is the measurement from the bottom of the bracket to the top of the facotry speaker which im sure fits snugly against the grill. This is a good esitmate though, it was hard to measure it right at the speaker. I took alot of pictures if you have any questions please post and ask.
