cone area

hope this helps

How to calculate cone area

Cone area = pi x (r x r)

pi = 3.14 r = radius of sub

One 8" = 50.27

One 10" = 78.54

One 12" = 113.1

One 15" = 176.71

One 18" = 254.47

Two 8" = 100.53

Two 10" = 157.08

Two 12" = 226.19

Two 15" = 353.43

Two 18" = 508.94

Three 8" = 150.8

Three 10" = 235.62

Three 12" = 339.29

Three 15" = 530.14

Three 18" = 763.41

Four 8" = 201.06

Four 10" = 314.16

Four 12" = 452.39

Four 15" = 706.86

Four 18" = 1017.87

would be a neat sticky as a quick reference

nice thanks
btw, more cone area = purely how loud you will get?
if you're picking the same subs then ya pretty much.. 2 15 re se's will get louder than an 18 re se.. assuming both go through the same quality installation.. also depends on wattage you're giving to each

you need to no your math then
Allow me to elaborate...

here's what the true sizes are closer to (and it varies depending on the sub):

BASED ON SUB SIZE

One 8" = 50.27

One 10" = 78.54

One 12" = 113.1

One 15" = 176.71

One 18" = 254.47

BASED ON ACTUAL CONE SIZE (the one that matters)

8" = 25 sq in

10" = 45 sq in

12" = 75 sq in

15" = 115 sq in

18" = 165 sq in

Agreed. This would cut down on the "2 12"s= 24" > 3 10"s=30" post, LOL. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
yea it would and the cone area is correct so i hope it can answer some ?s about cone area

assuming that the installation is done right, and all variables good and proportionally the same, smaller subs, like 10's and 12's will hit all the same low low bass notes as larger subs, the 15's and 18's. only difference is larger subs will play the notes louder?
