LOL, it really is pi(r^2). radius = 1/2 diameter

take the radius, square it and multiply it times 3.14159265358979323846

for instance 1 12" subwoofer has a 6" radius so 6*6*3.14=113.04 sq inches of cone

1 15" 7.5*7.5*3.14=176.625

so 4 12"s=452sq in

3 15"s=529"

considering squares are supposed to have 16-20% more cone area

which would be 1.92-2.4 inches added to the 12 correct

thanks guys i was getting confused i got different answers from the guys attha audio shop ther told me to multiply the number of subs
