Computer Upgrade question?

Ok, So I purchased a Sony Vaio laptop about 2 years ago now, and it was nice and had decent specs in its day. Now as you can imagine its outdated. I have already upgraded the RAM from the standard 512 to 1gb, and Plan on upgrading to 2gb, and I have already purchased a couple of external HD's to store music on. But my main question is, is it feesable/possible to change out the processor. Right now im stuck with the Intel Centrino Mobile processor. I would like to upgrade to the new Intel Core 2 Duo or whatever is intel's newest and best mobile processor. Or is that a waste and should I purchase a new laptop.

Current processor speed is 1.60gHz. and that limits me on what games I can play. I also plan to upgrade graphics cards if possible, I know that some laptops have built in/non changeable cards.

here are specs

tough question...it depends on if the board will support that new duo processor...if it will and it can be had for cheap...i dont know, im on the fence there...could be headed down a bumpy road...im sure someone will have some educated answers for ya...

I dunno about the processor but did you notice the "Maximum memory supported" part? That means no 2gigs for you

just look around for the highest rated centrino m processor you can find like on ebay or newegg.com and upgrade to that. there should be a higher rated one then what your running now. If it's the same processor just rated higher the board should in most cases support it.
