computer question...help

yeah...well i am just trying for a cheap solution until i go to college next fall...i just want to be able to play games...maybe ill just get a geforce 5500 for reg pci
I don't know if that would help you or not. With a celeron, i doubt it (not to be rude) The video card is only as good as your processor.

The problem with the 5500 is it was already a sucky GPU, but the PCI version has practically zero bandwidth, so it's less powerful than most modern integrated chipsets.

well right now i have onboard graphics. i have 1.25 gig ram. it meets my daily needs, surfing the web and such, but i want the ability to play games. the mobo doesn't have agp either

What is your processor speed with the celeron? If you put a bad *** card in there it won't get its maximum potential until you have a bad *** processor. But if you but a bad *** card in there you could always move it to a new computer in the future, as long as it doesn't become outdated in the mean time.

yeah...idk i just wanted to try and play WoW...i installed the demo and its actually not that bad...i might get a geforce 5500 from a friend for free or really cheap just to see if it works any better than onboard..

i want a new computer but i can't afford one...my parents are going to buy me a new one for college next year...i want something like this..Toshiba Satellite 17"

i played with one of these last night and the kid who had it had a excellent setup and it really seemed to work out well...hopefully when the time comes, prices will have dropped

If you can get that CPU onto another motherboard, get a decent graphics card (nVidia 7-series or better), a new power supply, and a gig of some decent memory (even Corsair ValuRam).... you could hypothetically overclock the processor a bit, overclock the GPU a bit, and run current games at medium/medium-high settings.

I pretty much just told you to build a new computer.... go figure.
