Ok I tried spybot and it didnt help. Now I cant download anything so I can try the other link you gave me. The spam or virus I have is a pop up with this fake windows vista scan stuff.

reboot and boot up into safe mode with networking, should be able to get online that way

Boot into Safe Mode w/ Networking (Keep hitting F8 before Windows loads). Log in as an adminstrator, open Internet Explorer, and go to http://www.eset.com/onlinescan ... It does a decent job of finding and removing viruses plus it's quick. If it comes up w/ a lot of viruses, save what you need to DVD and reformat. I'm not saying you can't get it clean or that ESET didn't already completely clean it, but if it didn't, it'll be a very time consuming project, no doubt. It's faster to reformat, reinstall, and reload.

From now on, use something better than McAfee ...
