Ok, here is my delima. I have an old Gateway computer with Win XP installed on it. When i boot the computer up it runs through everything as normal. right after the "windows XP" boot screen comes up the light on the moniter turns red (from green) and nothing shows up anymore. it seems like the rest of the computer is still doing its normal thing. but nothing shows up on the monitor. i would think it to be the monitor but, it shows everything normal until the boot screen.

any ideas?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

oops didn't read the whole post. So it goes red once it gets to the first winXP screen? If so you likely have the resolution/refresh rate set too high in XP... boot into safe mode and fix it

Yes, up until the point of which the win XP boot screen comes up

itll show all the text and loading shit but after the boot screen it goes blank.

Nothing is broken it's jsut a setting, try lowering the resolution in safe mode first, if that doesn't work try removing your vc driver in safe mode then rebooting. When it reboots re-install the vid driver

I had a similar problem a while back, accidentally installed the wrong vid card driver and thats what it did. Just Safe-Mode it and try re-install the driver, have you recently made any changes to anything?

Dont believe so. This happened a while back but it seems like one day i just restarted the computer and then it did that. ive just now found a new use for that computer

Agreed...try hitting F8 during boot up

I can't remember if you can set the resolution for non-safe mode. Try setting your resolution to 800x600 16bit color then reboot and see if it works. if not back into safe mode and uninstall your video drivers. Then reboot and reinstall them
