Computer issues, ****in' annoying

I am having a very annoying probably with one of my computers. My explorer.exe is ending/restarting every few seconds. I've scanned for viruses/spyware/malware using quite a few different programs, and I can not seem to get this **** thing fixed. I don't really want to do a reinstall of Windows, but I am will if I have too. Anyone got any ideas of what the problem could be? I haven't downloaded any programs, except for the spyware/antviruses. Nothing has changed on the computer. I went to sleep on my couch, and the computer was fine. I woke up to see it flipping out, so I restarted it, still messing up...

yes retore that ***** back a month or 2 .. you probably clicked a link on this forum that was full of backdoor trojans or spyware its possible that the spyware progam you have is infact spyware itself as most are that can be dowloaded for free or even paid for spyware i use norton anti virus/windows defender/and webroot spyware protector and it seems about 1/3 rd of links posted on ca.com is full of virus/spyware cookies

Vista or XP ?

Does it crash even in Safe Mode ?

Vista had an issue with this for the first 6 months or so and it would still crash even in Safe Mode, but I haven't seen any computers come into my store w/ this problem since last summer.

If you're running a copy of Vista that's not up-to-date, that could be the issue. Reformat is the only way to fix it.

If you're running an up-to-date copy of XP or Vista and it doesn't happen in Safe Mode, odds are you have a virus or other type of malware.

I have Windows on a 10GB partition. Programs are installed on another 10GB partition. My Documents is installed on a 220GB partition. I don't care if I have to do a reinstall of the p.O.S. (Not a typo, I run Windows XP. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif )The only problem is reinstalling everything, and redoing all my settings. Right now, I'm moving all my important files and I am going to do a reinstall. I'm completely formatting the entire drive and writing it with 0's, so there will not be any trace of any sort of viruses.

imo a simple low level format wont help anymore than deleting the partition and starting over, but if it makes you feel better

reinstall, get everything where you like it, buy an external drive, ghost your drive, then if shit screws up swap drives and then just ghost again....you always have a backup with OS, drivers and programs already installed
