i agree with almost everything, cept i highly doubt its the hard drive
Not so fast my friend!

Actually a while back when my laptop got the blue screen of death, the hard drive was at fault. Lost all my gay **** too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

it doesn't really that much to me....i'll take it back to work tomorrow and they will give me a new one. Shits all encrypted and stuff....only thing is this machine has alot of personal information on it.

i didnt say it was impossible, i said i doubt it.. hard drive failures are probaly the most common all around problem (power supply and corrupted OS i'd say before it), but alot of times a hard drive failure will present it self in other ways and the mobo usually wont detect it.. or you can hear it.. i did have a south bridge fry out on me once tho, which seemed like a hard drive error, but it was the mobo itself, but thats very rare (well south bridge frying is.)

Well most of the time it happens when there is a write error during shutdown.......but the bottum line is..you can run all the diagnostics and other checks you want but the truth of the matter is your hard drive partition is smacked....so what you will have to do is completely reload windows....if you have important stuff on the machine pull the drive and hook it to a working desktop and copy everything that way because if it wont boot in safe mode, its not gonna boot at all...

theres nothing really important...just personal info. My IT department should take care of all that for me.

same thing happend to my dell vostro 1500 with vista. It wouldnt start up it would turn on and go through the bootup but would never go to the screen to type in my password just would be a black screen, I had to reinstall the OS and all the drivers

guy in my office had the same thing happen to his the other day and he had about 8 years worth of work on it....he was losing his mind goin oh .... holy sh1t im screwed.....i told him to calm down and i took his drive and got all his info back...now he thinks im a hero...LOL

I don't store any work on my hard drive...we have a share drive that all work related stuff goes on. Its a seperate server inside the plant, i can access it from any machine. I also work from home so i have a secure connection to remote connect from anywhere i have a wireless signal
