my Dell lappy with vista on it gets that bs some times, its some incompatiblities in the programs I run, but it boots fine afterward...

alot of times when you get that error while booting its a memory issue... but if you didnt mess with bios or anything, i doubt its that, try formatting it. if you need to save smoe files use a bootdisk and work your way around command prompt, save what you need.. if formatting doesnt fix it (which i think it would) its probaly a hardware issue

or could possibly be corrupted windows element or a corrupted driver issue

could be your OS is corrupted, your ram coud either be dirty or dead, your hard drive could be also be dead. first thing id try is do a system repair with a windows disk if you have one or if your laptop came with a system recover cd use that.

could be not saying it is. they fail alot more in a laptop then they do in a desktop

Yea, if you cant boot up at all.

Then its either your hardware or OS thats fawked.
