If you've got a newer computer you shouldn't really have any problem at all running that computer. I'm thinking that Windows 98 doesn't support anything over 120 gig, if you've got any of the latest versions of windows, though, you should be fine.

Ok, I desparately, desparately need a new hard drive. I'm looking at this one:
http://www.accupc.com/itemDetail.jsp?pid=dhwd2500jb&refer=bizrate

Now, I've read something about how I need some card for hard drives over 137GB, its called like ATA100 or something.....I really have no idea. Anyone know what it is? I'd preferably like to find one from the same site.

Anything else I'm missing?

Thanks!
do you plan on having your whole neighborhood share the same hard drive? that is an insane amount of memory. i have never heard of anything that is needed to go along with a hard drive, but i have also never heard of anybody running more then 120GB for personal use, so don't follow my advice.

ur right, anything over 137GB on windows XP you have to use a promise card...if not yuo won't get full use of drive. Just make sure a promise card is in while you load the software, and you can take it out afterwards. hope this helps, peace

**The Rebates Should Be Available Soon. I'll let you know when they do.

Also it is actually called a Ultra ATA Controller Card, Promise is just a big company that manufactures them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Holla @ 1700+ full albums. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wave.gif.002382ce7d7c19757ab945cc69819de1.gif

1700 albums? Oh dear lord... I retract my previous statements.

It'd take quite awhile to transfer all that music via the net. It'd be faster to just snail mail a hard drive full of music, unless you're both on T3 connections.

I've been giving serious thought to putting together a small computer from spare parts around here after I get my new stuff for xmas and putting it in my new car. Then I'd rig up some sort of remote control system to play the MP3s through the stereo. And I'd put a wireless network card in the system so I could transfer new music into the car just by parking it outside. Much better than having to burn CDs all the time...

Gauntlet, i HAVE a promise card (aka ultra ata controller) that you can borrow. It only needs to be in when installed software and then can be removed. If u want, hit me up on AIM and i can send it to you. peace
