last night i was playing counter-strike:source when all of a sudden my computer crashed and restarted itself. upon POST, i got the message NO HARD DRIVE DETECTED. my computer has two hard drives, one is a seagate and the other is a western digital. on the seagate i have windows xp and some applications installed and on the WD i have my media files(mp3s, porno, movies, porno, downloaded files, porno, miscellaneous files, and more porno).. well, after fiddling around with my computer's guts i noticed that when i disconnect the WD, the seagate will be detected upon post. what is actually happening, (i noticed) is that everytime i plug the power connector into the WD hard drive, the seagate hard drive won't spin. so my computer boots up as long as i disconnect the power to the WD hard drive.. because the seagate will spin if i disconnect the WD. what would cause this to happen? the hard drives were both working fine together until last night.. i've had this same setup for about a year now. i think the same happens in vice versa (if i disconnect the seagate, the WD will spin but that doesn't help because there is no operating system on the WD).. i just want to be able to have the WD hooked up again so i could watch my pornos and listen to music!! help!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

hard drive crashed most likely. What you could try is unhook the slave drive, and try booting up into your cmos setup and make sure the settings are right/ or reset em. Same thing happened on my laptop before i knew anything and just bought another drive. Try that, if it doesnt work, buy a new hd.

Basically what happens is that in your cmos setup, your bios looks for the configured boot hard drive. If it doesnt find it, it wont boot. By unhooking it, it makes the WD the primary. That is why it spins, is because its trying to look for your boot record to start the o/s load.

well my slave drive is the Western digital.. which doesn't have the OS on it.. and it's disconnected right now. so go into BIOS and make sure the settings are right?? what settings need to be changed, if any, for the hard drives in BIOS??? i've never heard of setting up hard drives in BIOS so if you could go into some detail i'd appreciate it.. imma go skim through BIOS though brb.

i skimmed your post and re read it. So your computer boots as long as the slave isnt hooked up?
exactly.. could it be my power supply isnt sufficient enough? its been working for the past 2 years i dont see why not personally. i checked all the power connectors with the CD burner and they all power the CD burner on.

try reinstalling a fresh copy of windows on the drive that crashed. it can do wonders. if that doesn't work try installing windows in the slave and going master with that, and having the other drive be da slave. if not, just see if you can go master with the drive that was a slave in your old setup. if you can, then just reformat the hdd that crashed and use it as the slave now. if you have a lot of precious porn you can always have people do a hdd recovery, but they charge a lot of money. i might be able to, but my time is too precious (read: i'm lazy). let me know if you really do need someone to do a hdd recovery and i know a co. that will charge like $100 - $200 depending on drive size, but they guarantee success.
