Asus makes some badass reliable stuff and their warranties are amazing. OCZ also makes some great stuff.

I definitely second the comment on ASUS.... I won't use another MOBO but ASUS.... My MAXIMUS EXTREME is the flat out baddest mobo I've ever had, super overclockability, built in water cooling on the northbridge, the thing is a beast with my qx9650 proc.....

Go with a 900-920w power supply. If you are going for 2-3tb of hdd, I would recommend doing at least 12gb of ram, you wont be sorry if you do.

If your looking to save some money, I just bought this WD TV Live from BestBuy for 129.99.

Plays any file you throw at it, plays music, movies, pictures... Just buy a few big external drives, its pretty cool.

Just thought I'd recommend it.

From my understanding he will be using the HDs in a NAS type setup which is powered off of an outlet and connects via USB.

^^you will be fine with a quality 500-660 watt psu. You don't need anything larger for what you are doing. And you could get away with a simple graphics card like a HD4650 since you will not be using it as a gaming rig.
