K guys need some help here. I want some comps but dont know which ones to get. I know the watts will be at least a 100rms I will be running. I only want some good comps that thump because I dont have a sub(small car s2000). What do you guys recommend?? I know mb quarts are good but not good for loud bass right(the q line)? How bout the focals or.....what ever you guys think?

I don't remember the S2000 doors all that well but I personally wouldn't want and try and cut them to fit a 4" midrange driver. How much thump do you want? You might consider adding a single 10 in the trunk, thats what I put in for a customer a while ago and it sounded quite nice with some 6 1/2 comps in the front.

What are you doing about a deck? Have you decided to sacrifice the dash controls and change out the stock or are you going to use a LOC?

iirc you can use the peripheral swalp and integrate with the factory stereo controls by the start button, and this is not an infrared repeator, it plugs directly into the back of the deck. i believe a 9847 or anything above that will work with it, but not 100% off the top of my head.

any good component set should be able to knock out some low end. boston pro or Z6 do very well, the jl audio XR or ZR do very well. if you're on a budget, i had a set of VR's a loong time ago that did very well with about 120 watts per channel.

just because you have 100 watts per channel doesn't mean you will use all of it. it's good to have more power than you need. nothing like having plenty of headroom.

what do you guys think of the boston pro60? Oh yeah what amp do you recommend pushing these as well? I have a jl 300/2 but isnt it for subs, or should I sell it and just get something else like.....what?

a 300/2 is an awesome mid/high amp. it not at all designed to drive subwoofers. the pro60's would do very, very well off a 300/2. i've done a couple s2000's with that exact setup, and they sound awesome. really no need for a sub to be honest. sound great, and get PLENTY loud when you have the top down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if it were me i'd get a good component set and also get a couple Tang Band 6.5s or 8in in a small box in the trunk. Should give you good midbass and a little of the low sub but nothing special but should sound good.

ahhhh good choice with the rainbow's they have the best midbass i have heard, way better than the overated utopias, another good choice would be some dyn's or the phd's are excellent! almost forgot the rainbows have a kickbass upgrade for a lil bit more grunt!

xfatass, what headunit do you have?

I recently did an install in my friend's s2000 consisting of Seas Lotus Performance midrange and Seas Lotus Reference tweeters. The midbass output was great, even though the doors weren't dampened yet.

If you're looking for bass out of mids, then you're asking for too much. Nothing can really give you that bass of a subwoofer in an IB mounted midrange driver.

Whats the spec on the tang bang, seas lotus and have a link to their site?? Not looking for a sub right now tho. I kno no comps can sound like a sub but I had a stock mb c240(stock hu and speakers) that had a really good thump to it with out anything done to it and that is what I want to accomplish with my honda s2000. Oh and where did you mount the 300/2 in the trunk?? Got pix??

i want to get my hands on some seas lotus's. also, maybe look into dynaudio, or the zapco reference components.

I found some boston pro60 for 300 shipped used(7 months) and it has the baffle made for my car. Do you guys think its a good deal?? Comes with all parts and box. But on ebay they go new for about 340 but with no baffle. And if I decide to get them new and have to get it custom made baffles at the audio store will it be a lot?? So what do yall think?? New or used with baffles? Or go with another brand?

I would do dls up6's- they drop right into Honda doors with no clearance issues (small magnet) and have awesome midbass. Reasonably priced too (~$300) I love mine and almost don't need a sub......almost.
