components sound like SHIT!

ok whats the deal with this, i just got a set of components and thought they would sound better then my stock speakers, and they are more clear sounding however they still get distorted and sound like hell when i turn it up past 25. I did this a few years ago to but i used an amp and it had them screaming clear and loud all the way up,

do i just need to get an amp to power them to there RMS to make them sound better at higher volume?

Have them running off the stock deck? Your deck is definately distorting....what kind of components? Definately get an amp....

amp them, mine don't sound GREAT and are running off the deck for now but amping them will make you happy

Get one that does 50 or 60 or even 70 or even 100??? Set the gains carefully according to the method clearly outlined in the stickied tutorial in the amplifier subforum and you're gold.

Here are the rules -

The four most important things in improving a car audio system:

1) installation quality and system design (spend your time and/or money here) As for system design, a subwoofer/satellite system with separate amp channels and crossover is the backbone of all great car systems.

2) Power Amplifier(s) - you are trying to reproduce a wide range of sound at a volume that must overcome road/car noise using tiny little inefficient speakers (components or coaxes) - you need power.

3) satellite speaker quality - spend you money here.

4) speaker placement.

You (and they- they should be shot for selling you a component set without recommending amps and subs) forgot rule number two.

It wouldnt be right for diamond to allow don to ship products everywhere and then local dealers getting screwed. Using diamond as an example, im also sure other companys like arc feel the same way.
