components or stock speakers

I have a 93 grand prix with 4x6's in the door. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to modify the door and put in some 5 1/4 components or put in some infinity kappa 4x6 plate speakers. If i'm going to components it would probably be infinity reference. please give me any suggestions. thank you

The comps will sound a million times better because an oval shaped cone will distort a lot easier than a circular one. The the kappa comps, you will be pleased.

have you considered the 4x6 component plate from infinity? it has a 4inch midbass driver and a tweeter, and they sound quite nice too!

is it worth it to pay the extra money for the kappa's then the refrence components?

That is a good question. It all depends on your taste in music. Having had both I would personally say no and go with another brand but that is because I do not like the bright sound of the tweeters on the kappa series. Don't get me wrong, great sound but I'm more for mellow sounding highs rather then it being so bright. I have 6X9 Kappa series in my car now, but only due to being poor at the moment then I'm going to sell and get better components and just throw something back there.

the reference will be good enough. The tweeter on the kappa perfects are harsh. Ive heard both of these components and i liked the references alot. they were suprisngly real nice components, good price too.
