Components for around $180

I'm getting tired of my crappy coaxial speakers. The more I listen to them the more I realize they sound like crap. I don't want to spend way too much money for a top of the line set of speakers, I think I can get really good sound for $180 or so. I'm pretty flexible with price though, so I can go up if it is really worth it.

My main concerns are that they can play at loud volume levels while still sounding good, have great midbass/midrange response, and have very soft tweeters. I hate harsh high pitches. I plan to do some sound deadening so they will be working to their potential.

I might buy another amp as well, as my current one sucks, so can anyone recommend a good amp to power them with?

Maybe a set of the ED comps, with a 9.4 to power them? You can use the system builder discount to get 15% off, might as well pick up some deadening too...
