Could someone please recommend me some front components. Im looking to spend about 250 for comps and amp. Im not too sure what would fit in a Del Sol. Im told 6.5s fit but im not sure. Anyone have experience with a del sol install? and tweeter location?

Thanks guys

Jamie

What year is your Del Sol? I can look online to see what speakers will fit in the stock location. For your budget though, does that include proper deadening of your doors? You'll often notice more of a sound quality difference with a proper install than with different speakers, depending on what your car's doors look like.

This is a good, cheap amp: : Aura RPM2150 RPM Stage 2 Mobile Amplifier 2x75W 269-188

It's also half off the regular price right now which makes it a great deal.

its a 95 SI. no that price doesnt include deadening but i could buy some. they dont make tweeter pods for the del sol so im probably gonna have to do something custom. i dont want to do fiberglassing either . would like to keep it stock

Okay, well SonicElectronix lists your car as having 6-1/2" speakers in the doors. As far as tweeter placement, check this out for some ideas: http://www.caraudio.com/forums/advanced-sql-spl-discussion/534484-tweeter-spheres-pics-examples.html

You might want to find out where other Del Sol owners have placed their tweeters, but it's all subjective and you might want a different sound than other people -- try to experiment with the placement if you want to.

Lastly, do you want to run active or passive? In other words, do you want to be able to experiment with your crossovers(where the woofer and tweeter meet), or do you want them to be set at one spot?

Thanks alot man. That Aura amp you showed me be enough to power those ID speakers? i was actually looking at those earlier today.

For super cheap, you might want to look at these. They've been reviewed many times by people here, and a few other forums, and I can find you links if you can't find anything: Audio Savings | Cadence CWM6KIT 6.5" 200 Watt Component Car Speakers, Aluminum Cones, Silk Dome

I have the model right below those, and I tell you this...they do plenty for the money. My H/U has the high pass and a 7 band eq, i had to turn the hi-end all to flat, and the very highest to just below flat. They sound nice tho! They do the trick very well!

It should do fine, but there's an Aura 4 channel for $20 more that, while bridged, could give your speakers 150W a side instead of the 75. That's what I'd go with if you're getting the IDs.

Well ive decided to go with the CTX65 coaxials. Would that amp be too powerful for these?

Really, it depends on where you want to cross them at. If you want low extension(crossed at 63 or 50Hz or so), less power is better. I have mine crossed at 50, and have tried them with no filter at all. They've done very well with that power. If you want to cross at 100-120, the higher power would be okay as long as you watched them closely. I wouldn't put them on 150 each regardless, though.

At 75, I have my highs turned way down with the EQ. I can't imagine what they'd be like at 150.
