Completely new, attempting to find some good subs.

I just read the sticky and I know you guys hate these types of questions, but for right now I'm looking for something cheap and average.

I found this

Amazon.com: Pyramid PP15 15-Inch 800-Watt Dual 4-Way Stereo…

...and I'm reading its only 400wat per sub, which I also read isn't that great.

Are these any good? And if so why are they so cheap?

I'm not looking for something that's huge sound, but I prefer a little bit flashy with some good feeling sound, where the next car over can hear it, but it's not making your trunk shake. Mirrors shaking. I've ridden in a camaro with 2 12"ers in the back, no idea the make and model I'm just trying to replicate that feeling.

As far as the amplifier goes I'm not quite worried about that yet, taking it one step at a time.

Thanks.

How many subs do you want?

if more than 1 do you want them both for under $200 shipped? what amp will you be powering the sub(s) with?

what are you looking for just some extra bass in your daily?

Touche.....but not with 400 watts for both 12"ers, and 1/2 the box size //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif.
Right. The R's would cost more too. But if he can afford a pair and has the room, the Type R's can get loud...

Except, like all JBL speakers, the sensitivity is rated at the 2.83V/m spec, rather than the 1V/m

Again, I recommend the 12" RE Audio RE. Super clean sounding and plays **** near flat in the right box, decently loud. 87 dB sensitivity. Only requires a 1.5 cube ported box.

I've had decent luck with JBL/Harmon/Infinity products for entry level. You should check their ebay store as they have some great buys on refurb stuff that has full warranty.

Alternate option find someone on here in the classifieds section somewhat local and save a pile of $$ in shipping and get something nicer.

Speaking of Harmon, these might be worth considering:

Infinity 1262w-2-PACK (2subs_1262w) - 12" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix

Aluminum cones for that "flash" you're looking for and decent looking specs. At 600 total watts RMS they will handle enough power to get the output you desire. 450-500 watts would probably be perfect as these are probably sensitive subs (93db @1W/m) and you will gain some from them coupling. Maybe pair it with this and set the gains halfway-70%...

Infinity 1600a - Monoblock Car Amplifier, Power Amp - Sonic Electronix
