Complete plexi glass box?

ok so i was wondering what would happen if instead of using 3/4 inch MDF if i used like 3/4 inch plexi glass instead? would that work or would i run into problems. i just thot it would be cool as sexy as type r's are... that would be cool to be able to see thru the WHOLE box just thot that it might add somthing... lemme know what u think

It has been done...

As long as it is built properly, it can work just fine. MDF is not the 'best' building material for speaker enclosures, it just happens to be cheap and relatively 'dead'.

I believe there is a guy on eBay that builds boxes like you are describing, not worth it IMO..

there are people that make em. no clue how, but everything is sealed. no screws no nothing. dont know how they do it :?:

They are very expensive.

The glue bonds the plastic together so there are no problems about it breaking

Acetone should seal plexiglass together and clearly used to use it in wood shop. Could stick to plastic pieces together and they stuck very well.

well me and my buddies have built boxes but i dont know how i could handle this crap i dont know how i would get it together and i am confused about how a sub would mount in plastic im sure that i could figure it out.... but is it worth the extra cash (cuz it will be hella expensive) but does it give me anythign besides it looking pretty... cuz as mentioned before i know MDF isnt the BEST material to use... would i gain anything besides a pretty *** box? like sound quality or loudness?
