Today was a competition. This is the first real comp I have been to. The last one only 2 people participated, and I had my old Corsica, metered a little 138.6dB on an AC mic.
This one today had a great turnout. There was a ton of people. We arrive, I pop my rear gate, and immediatly people rush over to check out my stuff. "OMG, RE is awesome" is what I heard. That is awesome since around here almost nobody that I knew had heard of RE. So everyone has there stuff open for show.
NOW to RESULTS (That I was invoved in). They had SQ, SPL, and Bassrace, but I only did the SPL, simply because I wanted to see what I would hit, since it's the first time Big D has been metered. The meter they had was a TL (oh yeah).
SPL: First up, it was the qualifying round, to place us all for competing. The class was broken down like this: 1st: 2 10's or 1 12. 2nd: 2 12's or 1 15. 3rd: Everything else, 18's, more then 2 subs etc... So I fall into class 2. The way they did it is have 2 people going at once.
We watch class 1 compete, someone had 2 10's and hit something like 142.* ( I dont remember exactly, nor do I rember what subs/amps). At this point, im thinking, OK, im not even gonna place. I was not expecting to win or anything, I was just in it to see what I would hit. I was hoping to be 140, and when that car with 2 10's hit 142 whatever, I wasn't so sure lol.
OK, class 2 up, qualification. I am the first pair to go. Alright, this is it, I say to myself. They guy says "ready?". We nod our head. READY SET GO, the screen displays. BOOM. 35hz, displays 141.7dB. Did tones up to 44hz (from the 35), nothing moved the meter above the 141.7. "****" I say to myself, "That is freaking awesome!" It was definetly higher then I thought it would be. The other guy was at 138.*, but it doesnt matter, we are just doing this to pair us up in the actual competition. I was the HIGHEST in my class during qualification, but again, it doesnt matter here because we arnt competing yet. Still, great numbers here.
1st round. They call me up. I wont go into details here, but this time I came down a bit (everybodys score are lower at this point, so its all good). I hit 140.5dB.
2nd round. Call me up, going against another winner of the 1st round. I hit 140.7. Guy I am going against, also hits a 140.7. SHIT, a tie. "Gonna have to go again". 140.1, this time I beat him. Sweet, I am moving on.
3rd round, semi final. Go hard, but not quite there. 140.3. Alright, **** kid next to me beat me by .3 dB. Oh well. I'm done, but I placed 3rd in my class. Not too bad for my first actual cometition, not expecting anything.
I don't know what I won yet, I had to leave before they announced the prices (had somewhere to be). They will call me and let me know what I won, and then I will go pick it up.
Recap of My Scores: (all scores were at 35hz)
Qualifying (and highest score total): 141.7 dB
1st Round: 140.5 dB
2nd Round: Tie at 140.7, Re-match of 140.1 dB
3rd Round: 140.3 dB
Sorry I didnt get any pics, I totally forgot to grab my camera.
