Competition - eD A - BLAH

WEll wake up around 6:30 sat. morning to go to my first competition, like 2-3 hours away. I have everything basically setup in my trunk, but keep the amps off till we get there. So we arrive, get all the papers set and I go to tune my system for a burp. I start with only using 1 1200.1, and but the gain about where i usually have it for daily driving, then start boosting all HU settings. I get it to be pretty loud and turn up the volume and BOP BOP BOP... I first thought I blew the sub, I take it out, the cone blew off the **** piston.. Everyone kinda walks by to see what happened, "o bad design" "o man, with only 1200 watts?" So I run up to lowes with a kid from there and we buy some epoxy, get back and spread it all over, let it sit for about an hour.

I go to the lanes, They place the mic and tell me "gO" I press the Pause, and i hear it "boping" again. I hit 120 db's. I wouldnt have minded so much if i blew the sub and got a good number, but screwing the sub up with no number (db) isnt fun. This sub isnt for competition, and doesnt want to take more than the 900 watts thats recomended. Me, Dustin, and others know that. No ,im not going to call eD and be all pist, because i did send it 1200 watts, 300 watts over the Warranty amount. Thats why I'm getting rid of my A, and trying to buy some SPL orientaded subs..

Great subs if u send em the power recomended. Voice coils CAN handle 2400 watts, although the overall design cant. I'm done with eD.

That sucks man. So are you gonna start using RE, Adire, DD? what are you looking at now. You should try out some SeXXX's David says there really nice. I think thats what hes using in his car right now.

Overall design can handle and does just fine with that power if applied properly, contrary to your belief - one of my friends still has 2200w on one in a pure SPL design, it's still holding up just fine.

The glue on a few has behaved oddly - you are prob. the 5th person to have this issue total. Enough to cause them to have the build house redesign how they actually glue the structure down, the new way is so strong it now literally tears the cone right off but never lets go.

Just call up eD - if it was the glue joint that let go, chances are you'll be covered. Add that to the fact you'll get the new glue design, you should be ready to rock and roll stronger than ever.

yeh, i realize that i am just one of the unlucky ones.. I'll call eD about the power that they warranty.. Just made me mad, ya know.

As for subs, I dont know what Im going for now.. I might just get something like a nice brahma 10", just lay low till I bust out some sweet SPL subs for next season.. This SPL season is basically over, only 3 more comps and wasting $500 on subs wouldnt be worth it. I'de like to get in contact with Treo about their prices, wouldnt mind running those at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .

Trust me on this -

I'm willing to bet they'll cover it. It's quite easy to see if the failure was due to the joint or the user. Just explain you tried to glue them back together to keep things going for the run - and just be honest with them.

The only way you'll get a poor response is with a poor attitude, I highly doubt you'll be left hanging though.

Yeah your ballin, just tell them the truth.

WEll, I will call them tommarow, and while I'm at it, I'll ask them what the issue would be if I had failure throwing it 2400 watts at the competitions coming up. I did burp it with 2400 watts, but the cone just flew off again..

Get it fixed first and then ask.

Well, I only have like 6 more compeittions this year, 3 being this weekend, and only one good sub.. If they can tell me it shouldnt damage the other sub and indeed it should handle 2400 watts, ill compete, but I am very weary about it, ide need their word first.

See...the thing is, if you blow it with that 2400 watts, they will know you voided the warranty with that power...

Exactly. If you call up there, they will say uhhhh yeah what is your name. You send a sub back yes he put 2400 watts to it. Just save em'. get more out of them in the long run. Next year shut them down.

that sux sorry to hear bout ur competition and sub but i think u shouldnt do the same to the other sub cuz chaces are the same thing will happen since ull be running the same power and setup.
