I have been doing a lot reserch on these subs and here is my set up i have a alpine mrd 1005 amp! I dont want to get another amp either. Im currently uprgrading my subs from rockford fosgate p3 and i would like to know the differences in sound of the following 10 inch subs. I would like to the subs to be a good all around sub and the cheaper the better but if it sounds better then I dont mind spending a lil more. Im leaning toward the diamond audio d6s or the boston g5s These subs are going in a honda civic by the way. if you could Tell me your personal experience with the subs

2 alpine type r's

2 alpine type xs

2 boston acoustic g5

2 diamond audio d6

2 jl w6

I know you guys get asked these questions all the time but I have only heard the type Rs in a sealed box. So thanks. Would 1 12 be louder?

i like the x's and the jl w6's. those shoudl match up pretty well with the amp u have, plus if you want 2 12's, just buy one- see how it sounds and if it is not what you want buy another

yes you are underpowering the x's there 1000rms each but I would have to say the jl will probally sound the best with the x's not far behind at all.
he'd have to run the amp at 1 ohm or 4 ohms too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

ooo yea that amps does its rated power at 2 ohm so bascially x's are out and arent all w6v2 dual 4 ohm also im pretty sure if im not mistaken so those will probaly be out of the choices also. My verdict get a different amp it already cost 350 bucks on ebay and you can get a lot more powerful amp for 350.

ooo I dunno about the jls, if so he's down to to choices already //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

well most of the time people will keep turning the gains up and always haveing the volume at full blast becuase the subs won't perform the way they want with the little wattage so more distortion clipping will eventually blow the sub and/or blow the amp. Lets just say it's a bad idea.

SO does that mean i have to get a dual two ohm sub then? How would I wire two subs together to get 2 ohms? Im a lil confused now!!!! I cant get rid of the amp I just bought it less then a month ago!!! ****!!

The w6v2's sound awesome. The X are nice too but not near the sq you will get out of the w6. The D6 sounds great. Comperable to the w6 but they tend to have less output from the installs ive seen.. Out of all the subs youve listed I would go with jl. Whya type of box are you planning to use? And as for the subs being louder, I know a guy that hit 172 with 1 10. But in your aplication I would go with 1 10's more cone area and having the pair will reinforce the lows. I prefer pairs of subs over singles.
