Comparing 2 subs in same setup getting same watts, will one hit harder?

Hey,

I was just wondering this...

Lets say I have my 12" Type-R Getting 850W in 2.4 Cubes tuned to 34Hz, then lets say I take out my Type-R and put in an Fi Q, also giving it 850W and the same box...

Will I hear a difference between the 2 subs? Will the Fi hit harder with the same watts just because its an Fi?

Its hard to say..but just becuz its an FI doesnt mean it will hit harder!! You will hear a difference though wether its SQ, SPL. They are 2 different subs

It is totally possible for you to hear a difference, and no it isn't because it is a fi, rather it would be because it is a better sub.

I went from a 12" w7 to a 18" bl both powered with a jl 1000/1, granted the cone area difference it was significantly louder

Yeah well ur going from 12" to 18" lol, I mean f they were both 12s or both 15s or both 18s

look at it this way, if you went from a 12" funky pup to a 12" fi would it sound better or play louder? yes and in this case both. Well to a certain degree the same will happen with the subs your looking at, but what you are looking for in a sub is totally subjective.

The Q will sound infinitely better.

My Q actually annoyed me for the first week because songs sounded differently, I was actually able to distinguish different frequencies.

My 18" Q absolutely destroyed my 2 12" R's, and they're about the same cone area, but the R's had to split the power between the two.
