Actually I am not tall at all ! They said it usually happens to taht kind of guy . 3 months is a long rehab ! All ill tell you is the epidural they put in your back helps alot ! You wont feel shit for the first 5 days .

this pain sounds VERY familiar to what I get every now and then. CAN it self correct, or is it a surgery only thing? My pain sill start out of nowhere, and be a PITA to breathe, cannot take a deep breath or anything, and feels like a huge knot on (usually) my right side mid back at bottom of shoulder blade. Often takes about 4 days to straighten out, but its hella bad on the first. Never went to see a Dr when it was happening though >:l

That about sounds correct ! And yes it can correct itself . The pain is normally in your shoulder blade and down the arm . The surgery will leave 3 insinsions , they arent bad at all !

hmmmmmm interesting...... Perhaps next time it acts up, I have it checked out instead of ignoring it and chewing on a million mg of ibuprofen

how does this happen? It sounds scary as fawk
Apparently little soap-bubble like blisters (blebs) form on the outside of the lung. Either with some sort of trauma or even spontaneously they will 'pop' causing the air in your lung to escape into the chest cavity. Since the air has nowhere to go from here without a chest drain tube, it sits inside your chest cavity preventing your lung from inflating. As soon as it happened, it was like falling flat on your back and being knocked short of breath. And a horrific sharp pain in your upper back on the affected side.

I actually collapsed my lung 4 years ago today. 2 things could cause it, air between the chest wall and lung(s), or the residual air which is about 25% of lung capacity (main purpose is to keep the lung inflated and avoid a collapse) escapes. My doctor told me it would heal and through breathing would inflate itself, however, when I told him I play tuba he said that I would need this "surgery", though it's more of an outgoing procedure. slice my side and insert a small tube and tape it up. inflate then water seal. with the water seal, you may encounter a bit of pneumonia after they let you loose.

Anyway, I feel for ya, bro. Keep the prayers upward and you'll pull through man! Take care.

Well, my bro got a heart surgery back in december, and he didn't have insurance, but he applied for medical after the surgery because he didn't have enough money to pay a 100 + k surgery, and everything was covered. Maybe you could do the same thing?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
^^^This. My sister works at the local DSHS (welfare) office and this works if you need a large surgery like that and don't have the money for it.

If you've got a decent job you'll be f00ked and not be able to get assistance. You might be able to file hardship and have some of the cost written off, but probably won't walk away free...

Why do people think they should have "the right" to get tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of services done for free?

going to see if i have this in about an hour. I am having somewhat sharp pains in my rib area when i breathe heavily, and it worsens a bit when i lay down. It's not a horrible pain, but enough of one to get my attention and say ouch. Hopefully it isn't bad enough to require surgery or anything.
