collapsed lung?

Not too good, having a chest tube put in is pretty excruciating in itself...
What happened?
my dad last night went too the hospital and this morning my mom told me that my dad has a collapsed lung, 50% on one and 30% working on the other....

this is after reinflating? thats not good because that means there was some damage caused by the collapsing. Hopefully it is temporary damage
i dont know yet i have to be at work im going to try to get the day off now but im sure they havent reinflated it yet... waiting from my mom to call me more about it, since the doctor will be in at 10am

Im sure they did, every minute it is collapsed more damage is done to it. when your lung collapses cells start to die the longer it is collapsed the more cells die. when they chest tube ya it pulls the fluid out allowing the lungs to reinflate. however damaged tissue wont reinflate and needs to regenerate.

Buddy of mine in high school had a collapsed lung. Good news was after about 3-4 weeks he was better. Its scary but not something doctors are not used to. Just keep him comfortable and it will get better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i thought i collapsed a lung one time... it was costochondritis... apparently it feels JUST like collapsing a lung, depending on where on your chest wall it is... fortunately that ish went away after a week...
