Cold affect Transmission

My car has been acting wierd since its been getting cold out. Today i started my car, put it in reverse, started rolling backwards, and then about 1.5 seconds it took for it to catch on into gear (jerked a little). Then when i was accelerating, i let off at 3,500 rpms and it made a clunking noise and jerked the car. I immediately turned around to drive back to the house to have my dad check it out. He took it around the block and it didn't do it anymore. I noticed it goes away when the colant temp rises. Is this normal? I have around 32 thousand miles on my car. I blew my ****** in June, so it's only about a 5 months old.

called ''garage shift'' by gm. it is to prevent the engines high idle from driving your car thruogh your garage. It is a shift delay built in that operates when the transmission is cold.

what about when i was driving at like 30 mph and let off to let it drop into a different gear it like tuged and made a horrible noise. *All of this stuff happens when its cold*. Another example was, i'm going 40 and push it down, goes to different gear (don't know which one) then it delays a little, feels like the transmission is pulsating and then accelerates.
