coil ohms help please..

It sounds like that one is broken in. Those progressive spiders JL uses tend to sag. They should be fine. You are measuring resistance and not impedence. Remember that.

Well they are jbl mkii. They sub plays no sagging spiders no distortion or popping all coils do show a reading but when I was free airing them for testing purposes I also noticed a very odd smell coming from them

Its not a burning of coils or at least doesn't smell like when I've smelt other subs its very distinct I had a 12 once thay had this same smell worried me the entire box it was in wreaked if u took the sub out

Like I saidni could never find a "real" issue??

Please help im bout to get a box made for these 4 cubes each tuned to 28 hertz but I don't want to waste my.money. the guy at the shop says hr thinks the subs are overall fine but also thinks there is def "something" wrong with the one with the very off ohm load says thay one stinks to him top but like I said all honestly "seems" fine but he says it could last a month or a year he doesn't quit know what orbit there is even a real issue how can I check?

Im sorry they are dual 6 and with the jumpers that come with the subs in those are the ohms im getting Idr exactly but one was def off at least .5 ohms but all coils did intact still read no just dead coils

This is directly from the guy at the shop

Its 5 ohms instead of 6 and u put together one reads 3 and other reads 1.5 so idk what to say i only kno that it isnt rite

.3-.4 variance is acceptable to me. I wouldn't sweat it.

I'm not sure what to make of this. In series one sub reads 5ohms? But one coil is 3 and the other is 1.5?

Ya its really weird the coils should each read 6 and when bridged down with the jumper should read 3

but one coil reads 5 so its a whole ohm lower than its supposed to b and when bridged down is a whole 1.5 ohms off im not worried bout my final loads only that there is no serious issues.

So. 5 ohms is okay but 1 to 1.5 ohms off shouod I worry bout that seems like a lot

Called jbl no one spoke english no one knew anything at all after 30 minsbof being on the phone they concluded they knew less about the sub than I did..far less and the obvious "that's not normal" u can take it to a repair shop but they had no idea of any authorized shops anywhere in the us or the world said to check google. And offer no recone or repairs on the sub if sent in..ugh I don't wnt to drop 200 on a box for a sub to blow :/ ugh so not knowing what to do
