I was wondering if you could just buy this at a fabric store instead of buying second skin's 26$ a foot or whatever it is. Would it work the same?

closed cell, buy it from wherever, but buy a sample and put it in water to make sure it's really closed cell. it SHHOULDN'T take on water.

It's used for barrier loading, as opposed to the mass loading that mat does.
