Clipping

I have read and reread many of the tutorials for properly setting gains, and unfortunately I am still confused. I have an Audiobahn A4801T 4-channel amp powering (2) Kicker CVR 10" DVC 4-Ohm subs in a sealed box. I am powering the subs by just bridging two of the channels off the amp. They are "sharing" 700 watts RMS. I believe that I have messed up the gain or HU (Alpine 9853) settings because on the amp, it has "clipping led's" that I assume light up when the amp is clipping. They are currently lighting up when I play music. I really do not know what to do, but I really want to make sure I fix the problem so I do not destroy any equipment. What do I do? Thank you.

you should probably turn down the gains so that the clipping light comes on for less then 10% of the time.

check you settings and find out what filtering, EQ, bass boosts, bass enhancements, and other signal boosts you have on the signal.

Turn the bass boost off, it it is turned up at all.

That amplifier is over rated, as are all audiobahn products, so you will not get 700w out of it. If you set the gain for 700w, there is your problem.

Also, you say you have the subs bridged on only two channels? Use all four channels of the amplifier; so bridge two channels per subwoofer. Expect MAYBE ~400w from each pair of bridged channels.

I would not mind bridging the other 2 channels, so that each sub would have the "700" watts, but how would I know how much power each sub is getting? Each sub can only handle 300 watts RMS.

I am not running the bass boost on the amp because it will clip when I turn the volume up to a normal level. Therefore, I am using the head unit to adjust the bass.

What should I set the low pass frequency to? I just have a screw on the amp, that can be turned from 50hz to 120 hz, and I really don't know where to set it.

Can I be causing any damage to any of the equipment currently? Assuming there is no clipping, can anything be damaged?

Thanks in advance.
