Clifford = Viper?

I was told by a shop owner that Clifford brand alarms are the exact same thing as Viper brand alarms. The only difference being the name/logo. Is this true or was he just trying to sell me his stuff?

they are pretty much the same. clifford had a computer programing feature thats the only real difference.

Thanks everyone. Now where would be the best place online to buy.... any of these? lol. These are the features I'm looking for, feel free to suggest more: Remote start, remote locks, shock sensors, 1 mile paging when the alarm is triggered.

Also, how difficult would this be to install myself? My experience with car electronics only goes so far as hooking up 5 or 6 stereos and one stereo system with a 5 channel amp.

i bought my 791 from there for $178 but that is the 5900 link for $268. alarm parts arent that bad to install the remote start is the trickier part. what kind of car is it going in?

before you buy online... be sure you can find someone to install it for you.... you should be able to find a decent remote start alarm installed for around $350-400 at a shop and it will cost about 200 to get one installed anyways so finding a good priced shop is usually the best way to go
