Ok, my client is actually my uncle, but he's being quite demanding for a man receiving a free car audio install :mean: . Anyway, he has a :

Pioneer HeadUnit with 3 pre-outs; F, R, and SW

EQ: Kenwood 5 band 4042a (I'll say old school because he had one 10+ years ago)

Amp: Hifonnics Brutus Elite bre100.4 and Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D

As it is wired now, the HU's F and R pre-outs run to the mids/highs 4ch amp. The SW out runs to the input on the EQ, then the EQ out goes to the sub amp. All is fine.

However, he wants to use the mids/his controls on the EQ as well and that's where I stumped. Here's a link to the manual (CLICK HERE) . When these EQ's came out, I'm pretty sure that most head units only had one pre-out, thus the one input was fine.

In my opinion, as I told him, these EQ's are basically obsolete. Head units, in particular his, have all of these EQ functions built in already, but he's right, his head unit doesn't allow you to increase/decrease the db of certain frequencies.

In closing, how do I connect a HU with 3 pre-outs to an EQ with 1 input so that I can have all functions of the EQ?

THANKS!!!!

The only way would be to use the front RCA outputs from the HU into the EQ, then use the F/R/S outputs from the EQ to the amps.

He loses the crossover and bass control in the HU, but he can adjust the sub output from the EQ.
