thanks for the insiteful interjection...[/thread]

so what about legalizing drugs? you ***** the government is after money, just think of all the taxes they could impose on drugs....
From the data I have read, the taxes would not cover the "costs to society" that drugs cause.

Say for instance: with a $50 amount of cocain you beat the shit out of your wife. costing the state more than 9.075% (assuming it was taxed at normal TN sales tax) of that $50 to cover the bill.

youre missing the point..it comes out of your pocket, dude..instead of your kid getitng the latest edition of his geography text-book, they bought some simple green to get the coagulated blood out of the tarmac
i'm seeing your point clearly. the cost of the death is offset by one less person being around in alot of cases. i'm not sure of the money argument being valid. i'd like to see the cost of a vehicle death and the offset by 1 less person being here. i can live with someone arguing it on moral grounds, but i cant' see a financial argument.

it's the same as seat belts. they actually make more money from it being illegal. it matters not which is better for society.

say there are 100 million drivers. 80% or 80 million wear seatbelts, and 20% or 20 million don't. well of course the laws of averages saying the seatbelt wearers are going to be involved in more accidents, so to say well seatbelt wearers are in more accidents, is a bit skewed when most of the population wears seatbelts.

The text I read had 100 drivers of each variety.

The reason was that those who wore seatbelts drive at a greater speed (on average) than those who do not wear seatbelts. However, those who did not wear seatbelts are more likely to die.

You, my friend, are jumping to conclusions as I have no indicated whether or not I wear them.

if you die @ 30? how many more years could you have worked? how much would you pay in taxes.

im sure the money the govt had set aside for that individuals social security probally levels things off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

as it stands right now, the government is not receiving any taxes on drugs and this is still accuring

I will paypal you $5 if you can find any data indicating your statement is true. When I say data, I mean from a refereed publication, not some dope-head's blog.

when was this about you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif i wanted to know how you got about that number. now you add it was 100 drivers from each category, before it was just drivers in general which is millions

Ok so I have something to say here.

The day we stop having to provide healthcare for those who can't provide it themselves, is the day I will support getting rid of seatbelt laws. Personally, I would like both.

I don't give a flying fack if some idiot gets maimed by not wearing his seatbelt, but I DO give a fvck if I have to pay for his healthcare because he is poor. I think the whole system is fuxxored.

But in general I agree with freedom on all accounts. We should be able to skateboard, ride without seatbelts, ride without helmets till hell freezes over. As long as it doesn't effect me.

Btw, legalize drugs, and down with welfare.

This is comical!! People are getting thier panties in a bunch b/c of having to wear seatbelts. If you don't like how the country is run move else were. There are other places in the world that will control your every move (or try to at least) ie: communist China, (old) USSR. Another example in the middle east, people can be stoned to death for something that is excepted in this country as norm, ie: Having a child out of wedlock.

You should be happy you live in such a free country were you can pretty much do anything you want, within reason and within the law (which compared to some places is VERY leanent).

So quite your *****ing and buckle up! Who knows it just might save your life or one of your family members life...

Jon
