there is a market for everything, and for many people, they dont need/want something that is going to be good all around, but they would rather have something that is amazing for a few things.

look at how many GSXR1300's suzuki sells... fast bike, but not great in the twisties, yet they still sell like hot cakes for the streets, because they suit many peoples interests.

this is the reason the entire economy is not based around one individuals wants/desires...

Funny thing is that most of those cars and bikes will never get used to their full potential. They are just bragging rights. "My bike is faster than yours".

How many kids buy a DD9500 or a Fi BTL and get full potential out of it?

Not nearly as many is my bet...

I doubt that a basic consumer would get full potential out of their subwoofers

exactly.

some people think just cause something sounds like shit to them, it sounds like shit to everybody.

if that was the case i wouldnt be seeing 4 threads in 2 days about how lil wayne is the best rapper alive, and then having those threads blow up to 20 pages each about how he is the shittiest rapper alive.

personal preference is a BIG factor.

just like with vehicles though... there are alot of variables...

just because people don't associate a woofer for being musical doesn't mean it can't be.

L7's are typically viewed as just for getting loud, when people run them in sq setups.

others can be musical as well, problem isn't the equipment... but the guy who installed it.

a lot of times the issue is that people hear what someone else said, and then use that as an answer to any question that has to do with that driver.

how many times have you seen threads of a brand new member who is asking for the Fi website...only to see him 2 days later saying "the btl is an spl driver. you will want the Q in x amount of cubes with x amount of power to sound better for what your doing"

and its like "WTF?! have you ever even used the driver?!? or are you just regurgitating shit youve read"

One of the loudest and cleanest systems I ever heard was my friends 4 12" round kicker solo-barics sealed in 1c/ft boxes, and I'm hoping to accomplish the same SQ and SPL with 2 15" TC-3000's sealed. So an SPL car can be loud and crisp as well, I think the main way to accomplish it would be getting multiple clean sounding subs though and an awesome frontstage to mix in with it well. I'm trying 2 15's and if I can't get the sound I want, I might try 3 or 4 really clean sounding 12's.

Another awesome car I heard was an engineer for usamps/re audio and he had 4 12" se's or sx's that sounded very clean and got loud as balls, his frontstage was good but still had trouble keeping up with his subs.

I think the OP was talking about MT's, BTL's, Solo's, etc...

Yeah, sorry I just started babbling. I think you'd have to sacrifice porting spl subs to get any sq out of them but adding another sub would help get the spl back.
