classical music

Might as well threadjack:

Any recommendations for classical pieces that aren't too "frilly"?

I don't want it to sound like it could be playing in the background as I chill in my mansion with a powdered wig talking in a high pitched voice referring to things as "ghastly" and gesticulating like an Italian woman.

I like dramatic, epic sounding stuff.

Greig - In the Hall of the Mountain King

I used to have a CD titled "Classics In Motion" or something similar... it was all full of awesome classical like that, and the Mountain King was on there... lots of other awesome, powerful and fast-moving stuff. I lost it and haven't ever been able to find out who made it, or even what was on it to recreate it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

WHOA! Ask and ye shall receive!

Thanks, dude!

And before you think I'm just an idiot (ok, too late for that), I have looked on Amazon, CDDB and several other sources numerous times over the years, but it never showed up... I wonder why. Oh well... now I can buy it, or I've got a list and can at least "recreate" it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

This is gonna make my 3-hr commute to work soooo much nicer! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Maybe I was searhing under Classical in Motion or something... who knows.

Ive been looking for a cd for years now. It was "Classics with a Beat" or Classics to the Beat" I cant remember. It had some of the same songs as that one but they were set to a hard bass line. One of the songs in particular was a song to Beethoven's 5th. It had a guy tell the story of Beethoven's life in a low raspy voice. I cant find anyone who knows it. The closes I have come to it is this.

I enjoy classical even though i'm a noob to the genre. But to all those that don't like it: You guys must think soulja boy and hurricane chris are good music //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

While I do not listen to it often, I deeply respect the timelessness and rich history that classical music upholds, and as Slammed stated, it will survive the tests of time.

Nations, countries and peoples will come and go centuries from now; this music and art will sustain itself.

To the OP, ignorance is bliss, no?

Requiem For A DreamAir

Moonlight Sonata

Don Giovanni

i loove that soundtrack. the remixed album has some pretty decent stuff too. thats the kind of orchestra/classical stuff i can listen to.

and as far a country music , it is bleh. but some of the southern stuff with more guitars and other instuments other than banjos and harmonicas are ok, imo.
