Clarion DPX1800

anyone know anything about clarion amps, i was thinking of getting this one and wondered if its any good or should i look for something else
Really depends on what you are planning on using it on, Clarion has always made pretty reliable and solid products....it's been a while since they made a big (1K watt) amp but the last ones were solid and put out clean power....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I don't really know much about the Clarion but I was thinking about getting an XXV-03A at one time, which is the same amp as the Kenwood KAC-X811D/X812D. Amp looks nice on the outside and has nice features and everything, but from the reviews I read it just barely makes it's rated power at 14.4V.

That wasn't so bad but then I saw a picture of the amp internals and to be honest the Kenwood looked mighty cheap inside. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I'd spend a little more money and get something a little better...

anyone else got any ideas on what i should get? i really like the clarion but i dont know if its a good reason to like it, but it says its class g and class h and puts less load on vehicle than class d amps. and i like the kenwood because i can hook it to my kenwood xxv-01d deck. but if there is another amp that is better id like to hear some opinions before i get something im disapointed with

If you have the XXV-01D, then you might as well get an XXV-03A/KAC-X811D/KAC-X812D.

I know kinda contradicting what I just said, lol, but that's actually another reason I decided not to get that amp myself. I figured it's a nice amp but there's better out there if you spend a little more and the extra features like amp control I wouldn't be able to use anyway. I'd definitely have bought one it if I had a Kenwood HU, but I don't...

And as a slight correction I think the Kenwood will actually do more than rated into 4 or 2 Ohms, it's at 1-Ohm where it just makes it's rated power. I.e. it will do more than 400W and 800W at 4 and 2 but it just reaches 1000W into 1 Ohm (from the review I read anyway).

I currently own the clarion DPX11500 the nexted size up and so far has worked really well no problems. I have it hooked up to three tens and it seems like my stock electrical system is holding up pretty good.
