Clarion Dead...Sony CDX-M9900 or something else

Right now I have a Clarion DXZ835MP. Today it got jacked up and now it won't spit the CD out. I can hear a clicking inside of it. I had been debating a new head unit anyway though. I was leaning towards buying a Eclipse Unit but my friend has a Sony CDX-M9900. He's talking about maybe $230 for it and it is brand new. I would never have thought to buy sony but it's sitting in my house as we speak, since I put it on ebay for him. Do you guys think it is worth it? Or should I stick with an eclipse? And how will the Sony as well as the eclipse perform in comparison to what I have now. Any other ideas are welcome too. All I want is a headunit that has pretty good SQ and that can play MP3 cds. Other than that I don't need to much fancy shit. I would like to top out around $300 but $400 is within reason if it is worth the $$$$. Thanks.

It can also have everything to do with where you buy your equipment.
Both places were authorized dealers blazin auto greencastle PA for the 8445

and goldengate electronics PA for the 880prs. these were not some pos crap places...blazin auto i am actually sueing the employee that sold me the 8445 since he didnt want to refund my money after ups paid him on the insurance claim since ups broke it and the other place was fine and it was repaired by an authorized service center for free

Well, I picked up a Panasonic CQ-C8300U for free, since my friend had one lying around. That's what I'm going to throw in there for now. I'm still leaning towards buying an Eclipse, but we'll see how this unit performs.
