They were based off the old adire audio shiva and brahma. Over the years they have updated a bit. I have only ran them sealed. You can hear the pedal hitting the kick drum. I could go into the transient response and all that crap, it's easier to just say they are one of the better sq subs out there and have good output. I run 2 cubes polyfilled with 1600 watts from orion hcca 2100 1 ohm bridged. Both of mine go around 136-137 on music for a single. Of coarse output all depends on box and install. But those aren't bad numbers for sealed from a sq sub.
Bare in mind for the maelstrom, mach 5 is supposed to come out with a redesigned ixl this summer that is supposed to be comparable to the 18" for quite a bit less money. Most likely I will have both of mine up for sale over at diyma when the ixl 18" with 32 mm ? of xmax comes out. I don't do sq comp anymore. Looking for high 140's to low 150s off a single sealed that is still sq. Looks like mach 5 may be capable of that. If not they have a neo based spl model coming out that should give up a little sq for spl.
