Circuit City picks up Boss audio....

As far as CC carrying Boss gear?

CC is a business. They are not in the business of catering only to "audiophiles."

They are in the business of catering to a majority of the car audio buying public.

All in all Boss moves tons of units annually. Why? Because it's cheap. Yes, all of us here know why it is cheap ~ but the bottom line remains....it is cheap.

Low prices and flashy albeit useless graphics = sales to n00bs.

Protecting their bottom line is the business that they are in - and if picking up another budget (crap) brand assists them in that endeavor can you really blame them?

C'mon folks, be a bit realistic here.
I have to agree. Back in the day (early 90's) we were selling PPI, Phoenix Gold, Alpine, Kicker, Sony ES, etc and the owner decided to bring in Urban Audio and California amplifiers, plus some other cheap head units. I was flabbergasted. I complained. "There goes our reputation" I said.

I had a sit down with the boss and he explained it to me like this:

All the reputation in the world won't pay your bills. You got to sell product to stay alive. We can still do the high end installs but we need to do more than that. Installing 4 high end systems a week doesn't pay anyones salary. Installing 100 no-name systems PLUS 4 high end systems does. You have to have a choice for everyone.

I don't see many high end "systems' on this board anyway. I mostly see people with the biggest amplifier they could find pushing the largest subwoofer in a box that looks like an overseas shipping container which may or may not fit in their vehicle. I think even CC could do that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Well said. They are a buisness. Whatever sells. Lower end stuff is cheap, and even cheaper for the distributor. And if the stuff sells, more power to them Its not like there making you put in your car....you don't have to buy it.

cotjones is a *** isn't he?
dude you might as well just leave...

go surf the nar nar, er ska8 around and cut some sick jumps...

er whatever you brobro's from cali who think your lives are better than every-one elses do...

and no not everyone from cali is a douche bag, *******, who goes around thinking he is so great at talking shit, while everyone laughs behind his back... ....you, for example, get laughed at to your face...

not many people in this forum who know me really like me... but NO-ONE likes you and i don't think there is anyone who wouldn't be happy to see you go and never come back...

i haven't seen a single thread yet where you have actually contributed useful information... only posted pics of your life savings with a note with shitty handwriting on it...

in other words, you have no room to talk any trash in this forum whatsoever, you've done nothing but make yourself look stupid... so unless you have something to say that is on-topic... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ban.gif.ce8465566702ef9f72e97e794ed1c86a.gif

its true, if i owned c-city and could make money from it i would sell it too... but you wouldn't see me using it in my car...

c-city does pretty well with kicker though

This news actually makes me feel a little better about my setup. If CC is now going to be carrying the Boss brand that means there will be more cheap (good for getting the general population into audio) and shitty equipment around, which in turns means anyone with a decent system can be even prouder of it because it doesn't sound like a boss system.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Strange way of thinking about it, but true. I just can't wait til i get the kid in bragging about a complete boss system. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif I may have to show him what real music should sound like in a car.

There are a lot of great long time installers at CC and I can see their objections. It's when you spend a good amount of time meticulously mounting an overhead, only to have it come back for a fix that bites you real hard in the arse a few days later. This is the same exact problem with the Jensen line, the other lower than dirt brand at CC. The time to cut out the headliner and run the wires is that not good of a return if the unit doesn't work, especially if the customer decides to switch brands. By then you'll waste 2 more hours rerunning wires and remounting without getting credit for it.

Boss audio is good. boss make some of the best crapy stuff in the world

It has the best crapy sound too. its just the best crap in the would.

Boss + crap=best crap in the would.

Now I will get to hear even more kids around here brag about their "2,000 watt amp"..Too bad they don't realize what true output is..
actually i'm pretty shure all they offer is boss head units, they do too well with kicker, mtx, pioneer, and polkaudio to do speakers or amps

Bah, straight from the source of boss being sold at CC:

Heya guys. I am the Buyer for Installed Mobile Video. Feel free to flame me for most of the buying decisions in class 203. Boss is a line we are testing on the web through our Commerce Hub relationship. That relationship allows us to sell the product without actually carrying any of the inventory - much like Amazon does with most of their assortment. That means we can move in and out of product easily without any inventory commitment.
The reason we are testing Boss on the web is two-fold. First, almost all of the growth in the video business is coming at the low end. Love it or hate it, the number one market share holder in the entire industry is Jensen - by a long shot. Dual is a distant second. Brands like Pioneer, Alpine, and Kenwood have much much smaller market share. The product might not be your first choice, but the customers will ultimately tell us if they want Boss or not. The second reason is inventory. The inventory commitment required to run the video business is large. In fact, it is larger than it should be because of returns. Our return rates in video are huge. Much higher than they should be. In this environment, the ability to extend our brand assortment online without any inventory investment is very attractive.
And for everyone saying circuit city sucks... yada... yada... I don't care what you say I'm still probably a better installer than 3/4 of the people on this site.
