Circuit City Pays Up

CCity did not deal with this situation. Their insurance company did. Sometimes the 10,000 is not worth the negative publicity. It doesn't mean they're at fault. They just don't want to be put in the middle of litigation.
the CC store itself paid the rest plus gave the guy an avic z2 from what i read. so roughly a 4 grand hit out of the store itselfs pocket. and im going to say the installer got fired.

hell the CC my girlfriend worked at had an installer break a 400 dollar piece on a hummer and he was canned.

It happens. That's what third generation money gets you.
I do not understand...You are aware not everyone is a DIYer, and not every town has local shops. I would think if I were in a position where I was not familiar with local shops, or like my town where there are none, I can't really fault the guy for making that choice.

I didn't get the internet until after I bought car audios...so yes, my choices were limited to what local chains had to offer. You can't punish people for being ignorant.

and everyone wonders why shit cost so much now a days, its because of people sueing everyone and sueing for way more than what should be considerd fair... i dont thing he should have got anything because now if anyof us go to cc to buy something, were paying for it in the long run

I've had shit installed there.
but if i had the gas money to afford a hummer. It would not be at CC.
Where would you go?

Again, not everyone has the expertise or time to DIY. Not everyone has access to local shops. Not everyone is aware of other choices.

So when there is a BBY and CC in your city and that is it...where do you go?

So, according to the logic of you guys...if a patient tells a doctor to do a "rush job" and screws up...then the patient is not entitled to malpractice lawsuit?
I have done some financial work for a lawyer with a professor. He wanted it "rush-rush"...if he would have lost his case because we rushed and made an error, I bet a dollar he would have tried to sue us.

If a customer demands something that requires you to provide sub-standard or potentially harmful service you should guide the customer elsewhere. The fact that CC did the work ANYWAY makes the responsible. If "rush-rush" work is substandard, they shouldn't have done it.
They quality of the work was not substandard. It may have not been the tidiest of work, but that is not the result of the rush job. The rush job was the consumer not allowing CC to order the correct harness to do the job, thus forcing an alternative. The work was perfectly safe and did not pose any problems to the functionality of the customers equipment or his car.

The heating duct seemed like it was cut in error, probably mistaken for useless plastic similar to what is found on some Ford Explorers. The installer botched that part of the install and tried to cover it up. Poorly. That should have been the only thing that was paid for by CCity.

I'm not punishing anyone. I'm just saying that getting your equipment for your hummer installed at CC means you probably didn't research your choices very well. Meaning you are not wise with where you spend your money. My point being that third generation wealth is haphazardly spent. You should know that.

The customer didn't put a gun to anyone's head. They are able to decline the work if they can not do it according to standards. Cutting the harness is substandard work, imo, and shouldn't be done. If they couldn't do it properly, they should have declined the work.

They spliced into the harness. They did not cut it. It is perfectly acceptable as long as measures are taken to make sure wires are not shorting. Yes they could have declined the work, but you know how retail stores are with their sales goals and budgets. If you see a $3000 sale walking out, you would try anything to save it. They didn't do anything wrong by hardwiring the unit. There still would have been cutting and splicing going on behind the dash regardless if they used an aftermarket harness or not. The work was not substandard. The dealer made the customer believe it was so that they could sell him more parts.

What you guys are arguing over is done commonly in shops all across the country and even worse. There are more bad installers than good ones.

And if ignorance was actually a defense for anything wouldnt a lot less people be in jail? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

If it was not a 100% professional job then it was substandard, nobody stays in business with that mentality and if they do, they don't do so well.

it's too bad its not an ideal world...this "hack" job is not nearly as bad as collision places putting shoes, clothes etc. into steering wheels and not replacing the air bags, yet charging $1000 to "install" one. Now thats a travesty.

$12,000 says they did. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Sorry not trying to be a dick just giving my opinion.

Jesus that is bad, I've heard of that before.
