Anyone know whats going on Thursday?? Ive heard everything from managers getting fired to half the senior staff being let go. Can anyone on here confirm anything thats going on? Yeah I going to this meeting on thursday. Manager's have a meeting on Wed. night at 8 pm. If they did let go the seniors that would only leave 2 people in the entertainment dept.

Well, all i know is that the circuit city by me closed some time ago without warning.

Sounds like the company is really going down the crapper.

I have heard they are cutting one or two managers as well as at least a senior from each department and promoting a senior to something of an "assistant manager" type position that will carry out alot of management dutys like opening and closing the store etc. This is just stuff i have heard today through the grapevine, so im not sure on the accuracy of the info but i have a strong feeling there will be a few people getting let go.

Nothing big. It's not reflected in the stock price.

volume 1/2 of daily. It is not a big event as the previous layoffs, although I would appreciate a comment ASAP.

They are saying the downsizing is due to Walmart offering TV's so cheap on Black Friday and ect.. They say people are waiting all year for these sales and not buying like they used to.

The reason that CC is going down is because their sales absolutely ****- 99% of their advertised sales are either less then 10% off, or mail-in rebates.

That, plus their CS is horrible, and extremely inconsistent.

Funny thing is later on thiis year CC is spending millions of dollars revamping some stores on the west coast. I have 50 stores to go into and change things around.

They did that to our store. They sent in the 'top guns', which were a bunch of retarded planogram specialists, and department managers that thought they were tough shit.

One of them was a genius. He made signs that read "Re-Grand Opening". Not 'Grand Re-Opening'. Re-Grand Opening. What a brainchild.

Ok, update that I've gotten from a trusted source...
Corporate is trying to cut down on the amount of coverage issues in the departments....

thus they may be trying to not get rid of the Seniors, nor cut their pay, but change their roles....

They have developed this position called "Generalists"...these will basically be people who have a home department (Entertainment, Tech, Roadshop, whatever) but will be cross-trained to work the other departments so that in moments of coverage crisis, these people can move from 1 dept. to another.

BASICALLY...making us sales managers....however, there will likely will be no increased compensation for the larger role....

IMO, it's their small way of being able to cut down and possibly down the amount of Sales Managers....as many stores have already eliminated the position of Roadshop manager.....

Either way, I can't foresee SOMEBODY not losing a job...it's all about economics...

Keep in mind, this is all still just speculation...but I did get this information from a trusted source who got a hold of the paperwork that is guiding this so-called "transformation"

ya only if ppl knew that walmart had a sister company making there name brands like sony and others for tvs. they're not the same products at cc and bb and reason for cheaper prices. but ppl only read price not where its being made and by who
