Checking Ground?

How can I make sure my ground is good. I'm getting noise in my system even when the car is just on ACC. When the car is started I can here my engine when I accelerate and I get pops and such. If I unplug my Powered LOC the noise goes away though. The company that makes the LOC (Soundgate) said it was a gain issue but I know that is not true. What can I do thanks? Should I just take it to a local shop ...?

Soundgate said to put it behind the radio. I moved the ground for it but should I try moving the unit? To where? Also I was told by other people with my car that I dont need an LOC and I should just tap the radio's line outs.

are the gains on your amp all the way up? and are the gains on the LOC all the way up?

No, soundgate told me to adjust them and I did but I am still having the same problems.
