as some of you might know i installed a set of PG RSD's in my car exactly a month ago. i went back in to the doors cause i had a slight buzz in the plastic door skin at certain frequencies. while i was in there i noticed that the mdf baffles were getting slightly wet and swelling in certain areas.

so todays project was to make new baffles and to make sure that the same thing would not happen to these as well. so i cut new ones out, then i primed them, painted them very heavily, then clear coated them very heavily. then i installed them. i totally covered them in Edead V1SE after they were mounted as well. not a hair of these new ones will be exposed to the elements again.

here are a couple pics for everybody....

this is what the worst of the two looked like after only a month..

this should not happen again now. :)

yup used to get water in my door as well..before I knew it the surround on my left speaker like....dry rotted out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I remember when I was installing my midbass I saw two little drain holes at the bottom of the door - I assumed it was for the water that leaks through the window/door location.

so why are people telling me to find the real problem. water will get into any door through the windows. isn't that why there are drainage holes in the bottom of the door?

EDIT: ^exactly. thanks man!

nice work there bud........
thanks, it was cake!

i should have taken the time and done this in the first place but i had no idea they would really get that bad that quickly. this was my first time using MDF baffles in a door.

It depends on how long you can go without touching them. On mine, just bare MDF, I'm going on about 3 years. I agree it's a good, preemptive measure, but sometimes it's not always needed, especially if you can whip up a new pair in less than 10 minutes.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Good work though. Those should last the life of that car.
