check my math

I need to build a 1Cubic Foot Box and these are the dimensions I came up with:

Height - 15

Width - 16

Bottom Depth - 8

Top Depth - 6

Those are for the inside of the box.

That equals up to .97 cubic feet. That's the closest I could get to one with whole numbers

do u need 1^3 ft b4 or after sub displacement? ported or sealed? those dimensions might change with those answers. otherwise your math is right.

I answered it in the enclosure section //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

P.S. your math is right. But you have to account for the basket displacement. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you know, after four years of high school math and one year of college math, you'd think that I would think about displacement, lol

dang, how do I figure out the volume of my sub?

Don't feel bad. I have done worse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's usually called basket displacement , and it's usually listed with the parameters. What kind of sub ? maybe we can help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well sir, shouldn't we feel like a bunch of fools.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif After looking for the basket displacement on infinity's website. The 1cuft sealed enclosure does include basket displacement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif oops //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif My bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

check it out.

lol woo hoo. I've come to a delima anyways... That sub is so deep that when I put it in a box, it might not fit in my truck. how many inches should I leave between the magnet and the back of the box?

I might, sadly enough have to change subs cause those infinity's are 6.3 inches deep. I don't have a lot of room to give up in my truck.

How thick does the would need to be? I need to cut corners everywhere possible.

well, what a coink-e-dink uh? that's cool though that it worked out like that. my bad as well!

How thick does the would need to be?

for sides and back, i'd say 3/8" minimum, front 1/2". but u should use 1/2" all the way around if ya can.

About 2" more if possible

not to step on ramos's toes, i've only got about 3/4" behind mine and they've done just fine. correct me if i'm wrong, but the 2" is to allow greater air flow to the pole piece and allow better cooling.?

6.3 inches deep.

ur tape measure reads in decimals?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif but seriously, with at least the 1/2" front/baffle? u should just scrap by..3 is just over a 1/4", so counting the wood thickness and such should give ya about 1/4" +/- behind the sub. of course u could just scoot your seat up a little more!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hope that helps.............

don't hurt me too bad ramos!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif :banghead:

haha, that's just what infinity's spec sheet said, sub depth = 6.31 inches //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Why didn't I think of that? Sacrifice comfort for sound. I'm a true car audio nut now! lol
