The amps have nothing to do with why you fuse the wire. You use the fuses on the wire to help protect the vehicle from a short in the wire. In a standard car audio set up you would fuse the wire within about 18 inches of the battery. That way, lets say your in an accident and the wire is pinched or grounded out somewhere, the fuse would blow as opposed to grounding the battery. Why is that important, because an unfused power wire can cause fires and fires bring a ton of bad with em. In the case of this thread he chose to instead use a different type of wire protection. Do I agree with it, no. But its not my vehicle and he is more than happy and secure with what he did to protect the wire and its his porogative to do it the way he did so all the more power to him.
