Rob is exactly right. Conduit is NOT an acceptable substitute for fusing as it only protects the wires and not the battery. Shorting out the battery could easily cause a fire under the hood. Sure you might be the only one working on the vehicle, but what if thieves break in, steals an amp and leaves the bare wire grounded? Why take the chance?

I btw have fuses on my main power wire. BUT NGSM13 is not the only knowledgable person on the boards that has chosen not to fuse his main power wire for one reason or another, and in the end, he has ALWAYS properly fused in customer rides.... ALWAYS.

Like I stated tho, it's only saving one side...

For it to be fully effective... you'd want one w/in 18in. of your alternator up front... AND within 18in. of your battery + input on the back battery.
