cheapest truck/suv to lift

I test drove a few jeep cherokees that were lifted a couple inches on like 33s, and it felt nice to drive and not worry about bumps and potholes like when I drove the mini cooper. Also, my part of town, anytime it rains, it floods.

The other day it rained so much I couldn't get home for almost 2 hrs....

I just want something cheap, but that runs good...what are some trucks or suvs I can look at? High miles doesn't matter as long as it runs good and not break down every week. For example, I know the 4.0 I6 in the jeep cherokee's are good and last for 200-300k miles or more if taken care of, so I don't have a problem buying like a 1990ish cherokee with 150k on it.

Other options are older trucks, bronco maybe?? I don't know anything about lifting, so people that know about this, give me some info please.

I don't mind buying something already lifted either (again, nothing nice, I kinda want something on like 38s or 40s though)

I saw some chevy trucks and broncos on craigslist already lifted, but the only thing about that is getting something that was rigged together and not lifted properly.

I'm trying to spend no more than 2000ish give or take for something lifted, but if its a stock truck or jeep or something, more in the 1200-1500 range..

Paint job doesn't matter what it looks like etc....

Ideas?

Thats one of the many reasons I love my truck, don't have to worry about nothing in the road short of a downed tree or powerline or something. I have always laughed at the lowered guys swerving back and forth to avoid all the potholes and such, and up here we get snow in the winter, again 12+ inches of snow is no problem either and my truck isn't lifted, yet.

You listed Bronco's and then the GM equivalent of the K-5 blazer, both would most likely have 31's on them from the factory and need only a mild 4" lift or so to fit 35's and have no problem with any flooding. Shouldn't have a problem with flooding even at stock height.

Personally I have always wanted a 4 door Cherokee with the 4.0L I-6 and a 5 speed, would make a sweet off roader that could still carry some people and the 4.0L is a pretty petty motor specially for an inline.

This was posted up in the "Lets see your ride" thread and its EXACTLY what I would love to have and would probably fit your bill perfectly too.

EDIT: little more info on the jeep to get a perspective on the lift/tire combo,

Its got a rubicon express 3.5 lift with 245/75/16 for tires

How much would I need to lift the cherokee for 38s or 40s? Would the bronco fit that size tire with less lift? How much am I looking at to lift the bronco btw?

Also, do u know anything about the bronco engines? I'm sure the jeep inline 6cyl gets better MPG too?

why not get alil toyota 4banger with an extended cab?.....ur talkin about buying an older suv/truck that will **** down gas, and have who knows what go wrong with them.
